ObserveIT Training Session at ARIM’s office

ObserveIT Training Session at ARIM’s office On the 28th of July 2016, ARIM Technologies hosted a private training session with ObserveIT at our Singapore office. We were fortunate enough to have customers and partners who travelled from the region, such as Indonesia and Malaysia, for this session. At the morning session, Ilan Sharoni, Director of Pre-Sales at ObserveIT, introduced the audience to the features, functions and value propositions of the solution. Through different customer use cases across the globe, the audience was able to grasp the value of the solution, and how this would apply to the many different customers’ organisations. Post lunch, the team continue with a deeper dive into the technology through hands-on exercises, providing a better understanding on the configurations of the solution, the different deployment models, and how the canned rules and policies work out-of-the-box. The team was also introduced to how rules and policies can be customised to fit different working environments. More technical training sessions for our customers and partners in the region will be held over the next few months, and if you would like to be a part of the sessions, go ahead and drop us an email – [email protected]   ...

Fireside Chat Series #7 | Prevent, Restore, or Break: 3 Strategies to deal with insider threats and ransomware Swissôtel The Stamford Singapore, 27 July 2016 ARIM Technologies and Wizlynx Group jointly organised an invitation-only event – Fireside Chat Series #7 | Prevent, Restore, or Break: 3 Strategies to deal with insider threats and ransomware, at the Swissotel in Singapore, on the 27th of July 2016. We were honoured to have Mr. Tay Chee Keong from Lonza Biologics to join us as our keynote speaker, and to also have Rafi Glickman, APAC Sales Director, and Ilan Sharoni, Director of Pre-Sales from ObserveIT present and share on Insider Threat Management strategies. In this Fireside Chat event, we shared new strategies at dealing with the consequences of cyber-attacks and insider threats. The first approach takes into consideration that threat actors are already inside the organization, and so focuses on preventing the real risk to the enterprise – the actual exfiltration and tampering of data. The second approach seeks to educate employees, and to detect risky behaviours to prevent internal malicious or unauthorised activities that may put your organisation at risk. Post the discussion, our participants took the opportunity to network and share ideas with our speakers and fellow industry peers over lunch. Register for interest to become a part of our Fireside Chat community and receive an invitation for the upcoming events at [email protected] ...

InfoKomputer Magazine: July 2016 – Cover Story

Layanan Managed Security – Pengamanan TI oleh yang Ahli This article was originally released in Bahasa at InfoKomputer Magazine July 2016 edition (print). InfoKomputer Magazine: July 2016 Cover Story In the July edition of InfoKomputer, the Indonesian-based magazine looked at the issue of Managed Security Services. It was the main article of the magazine spread over five pages and interviewed four CEOs of technology firms on their take on Managed Security services. The interview and written article was conducted by Tim Redalski. The four interviewees came from different segments of the technology sector. Ivan Goh is CEO and Co-Founder of ARIM Technologies, which markets cyber security solutions to companies within Asia Pacific. Toto A. Atmojo is President and Director of Defenxor, an IT security company based in Indonesia. Sulistyo is the Enterprise Service Lead of HP Enterprise in Indonesia, which provides IT, technology and enterprise solutions and products. Finally, Simon Ratcliffe is the Director of SecureWorks, a Security Solutions provider and the General Manager of Dell SEA. The focus of the magazine article looked at Managed Security, where instead of having to rely on internal IT departments to provide security solutions and worrying about potential data leaks, companies can instead outsource the security system to more competent and experienced parties, such as ARIM Technologies. This is the promise of Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs), but they come with their own particular set of strengths and weaknesses. Each interviewee was asked a series of questions on a range of issues relating to the theme of Managed Security. Ivan’s responses looked primarily at ARIM Technologies’ role in providing security solutions in Indonesia. On the topic of the benefits that MSSPs can bring to companies, Ivan said, “the primary benefits of MSSPs are predictable expenses and operation expenditures. In addition to that, organizations would be able to focus more on their core businesses and leave the IT Security to experienced professionals.” When asked about the kinds of services that ARIM Technologies provide, Ivan gives the example, “We provide the full spectrum of cyber security services including the likes of Incident Response Services and Digital Forensic Services.” The article also delves into the challenges of deciding on an implementation strategy, which many organisations face. Specifically, what level of security companies would need from the MSSP and how the provider would go about introducing these solutions. Ivan said there are some factors that need to be defined from the early stage, mentioning in particular, “setting up the SLA and the scope of work required from the MSS. “ Furthermore, organisations would need to hold a review of their internal team for potential weakness, and see for themselves what gaps are in need of filling by the MSSP. Ivan also stressed that, “it is very important for the organisations to have full trust in the MSSP to be able to provide the security measures needed.” When asked for any advice that could be given to a company who is looking to use the services of an MSSP, Ivan had a very particular bit of wisdom to impart. “Companies need to seek the services of an MSSP that will really listen to you, and take the time to understand what your business is and the services it needs to provide. Be cautious of MSSPs that are only interested in selling their products to you,” he says. One final consideration the article looked at was the cost that would be involved in seeking the services of an MSSP. Ivan made it clear that there was no simple answer to this question. “The costs of engaging a Managed Security Services Provider are different depending on the segmentation and the needs of an organisation,” he says, making it clear that costs would be decided on an individual basis with consultation and taking into account the needs of the business. In essence, this was reinforcing his previous point about involving an MSSP that took its client’s business into serious consideration when looking at the required security services.
